What is Laser Liposuction
Mechanical liposuction (PAL/MAL) has been conducted by removing the fat from a person’s body by means of a surgical tube and power aspirator where excess fat was pumped out of the body and the body was reformed into something sleeker. This same concept is now carried out by aesthetic laser and the body procedure is known as laser assisted lipolysis. These aesthetic lasers use a special cannula with a fiber optic cable that delivers the light energy that heats and emulsifies areas of the fat. Specifically, energy from the cannula blows up the walls of fat cells and liquefies the fat, which is then removed with the traditional/mechanical lipo technique (PAL). This light energy literally liquefies the fat, which allows for greater precision and vastly superior results, compared to traditional liposuction. The newer devices use tissue-selective parameters that will conserve other body tissues while only targeting and eliminating fatty deposits. A secondary feature and benefit of this laser is that it can also be used as a stand-alone treatment and small fat areas that traditionally cannot be corrected using liposuction are not able to be treated. What distinguishes the makes these laser assisted lipolysis procedures different is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other important tissues, such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. The other purpose for this technology is to supply skin tightening of the reticular dermis and to reduce bleeding from the traditional liposuction procedure. Skin tightening can be quite dramatic and can occur for (9) – (12) months post procedure eliminating the possible need for tummy tucks and mini tummy tucks. Laser Assisted Lipolysis is used to remove fat from under the chin, cheeks, jowls, neck, upper arms, breast, chest, abdomen, buttocks, hips, inner and outer thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. The partially emulsified fat is removed by inserting a small cannula into one or more tiny incisions near the treated area to be aspirated either manually or with power aspiration using a device. The incisions are usually less than a quarter of an inch and placed in natural skin folds, making them less visible.
The benefits of using Laser Assisted Lipolysis:
- General anesthetic is not required.
- Discomfort and downtime are minimal.
- Risk of bleeding, bruising and discomfort is minimal.
- Tissue selective, targeting fat deposits only without damaging other body tissues.
- Results in significant fat loss, tightens loose skin and sculpts the body.
- Safe and effective procedure
